Festival of Colors in Berlin: Holi Open Air

The movie looks like a publicity stunt or a sony-commercial and not really like something in which “normal” people can participate. Nothing is further from the truth. The Holi Festival in Berlin on the 29th of July makes it possible!

Holi Festival in Berlin

Tonight (05/07/2012) at 22.00 you can buy tickets for the Holi Festival in Berlin. The festival takes place on Sunday, July 29th and lasts from 11.00 in the morning until 22.00 in the evening. After that time the party continues indoor until early in the morning so also for the real party-hardies, there’s still something to enjoy.

Holi, as the festival is called, is one of the oldest festivals in the world and most defenitly one of the most colorful. The party is from the North of India and comes to Berlin this year. Traditionally the big peak of the festival, the festival of color,  no more status or age is taking into account. A girl of sixteen may smear Gulal, as the paint is origanally called, in the face of an old man of seventy years old.

The colored-powder which is used in this festival can be purchased from the organization of the Festival. For 100 gram you will have to pay 2 Euro. When you will be visiting the festival with a large group it might be a cool idea to buy all different colors and make sure you come home feeling like a bag of skittles. Unfortunately it is not allowed to take the paint of your dads garage.

Line up and prices

The line-up of the Holi-Festival on the 29th of July includes: Jan Pyroman, Spanks!, Kenny White and Marco Bestrong. Also Turmspringer will be present: This DJ had a big influence on the great succes of the Shoeless party at Ritter Butzke.
So there will be an amount of Electro, Techno and House availabe on the Festival of Colors.

The tickets cost 15.99 and can be ordered on the website. There is room for only 3000 people so be quick if you want to get tickets.

This particular holi-festival takes place near the Ostbahnhof. From Alexanderplatz is only two train stations with the s-bahn and you can go partying.
