The last couple of days we finally had the chance to enjoy the sun a bit more. The sun always has a great influence of the city of Berlin: The people are in a better mood, the city looks even more beautiful and many great outdoor-parties will be organised again. A few weeks ago we already published out list with 16 German festivals but one of the festivals is worth another mention: Lollapalooza Berlin.
The Lollapalooza festival
Lollapalooza originally comes from America but has been organized in 6 different countries over the last couple of years. Countries like Argentina, Chile, Brazil and France have already been the home to this versatile festival. Lucky for us, Germany is also one of the countries and that is why we can also enjoy the festival on the 8th and 9th of September 2018. Unfortunately there will not be camping included in this German festival, but the festival will take place in the Olympiastadion, which is only 30 minutes away from Alexanderplatz.
The Location: Olympiastadion
This year it will be the fourth time that the Lollapalooza festival will be organised in Berlin. The first year the organisation chose Airport Tempelhof, in 2016 it was Treptower Park, last year Hoppegarten and this year it will be a the Olympiastadion in the west of Berlin. The organisation must have chosen this location because of the logistic problems from last year. In 2017 it took some people several hours to get back home from Hoppegarten. Because the Olympiastadion is used for football-matches every second week, many thousands of people will be able to reach this location without problems.
Just like other years there will be 4 different stages where more than 50 different artists will be playing. A few weeks ago the last couple of names have been published which completes a pretty solid line-up for Lollapalooza 2018.
The Weekend, David Guetta, Ben Howard and more
So far Lollapalooza always invited very solid names to their festivals. In the last editions in Berlin there have been names like Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons, the XX and many other great acts. A good thing about Lollapalooza is, that there are many different music-styles available, so this festival also is a good fit for bigger groups with differing music-tastes. On Lollapalooza 2018 in Berlin you can expect some famous bands like The National, The Weekend, Imagine Dragons, the Wombats and Ben Howard. Besides that you will be able to dance your feet off with DJs like David Guetta, Oliver Koletzki, Kygo, Scooter and Armin van Buuren. As mentioned there will be more than 50 artists, so these are just a bunch of them. All the names can be seen on the Lollapalooza Website!
More than just music
Besides a great line-up, Lollapalooza is offering a lot more for their visitors. There will be “Der Grüne Kiez” for example, where you can enjoy eco-products and even do workshops where you learn how to be sustainable. Besides that, there is also the Kidzapalooza, where all children can enjoy activities, shows and music. This actually gives the festival a very friendly and nice vibe.
As mentioned above, the Lollapalooza festival in 2018 will take place during the second weekend of September. You can either buy day-tickets for 79 Euro or a weekend-ticket for 139 Euro. This ticket-stage is not the most expensive one yet so it makes sense to buy your tickets as soon as possible. Reaching the Olympiastadion should not be a problem, a direct train is leaving from Alexanderplatz.
Lollapalooza 2018 Berlin summarised
If you like versatile music and are looking for a great festival close to Berlin, you should definitely consider Lollapalooza. No camping takes a bit of the atmosphere away but it also has plenty of advantages. The line-up is very solid and the price of the tickets is still reasonable if you compare it to visiting a concert of some of these artists. If you have any questions regarding the last couple of editions or Lollapalooza 2018, just let us know.
