Every year around 230 weekend-festivals are organised in Germany. As most people only visit 1-2 festivals each summer, many festivals are having a hard time keeping their head above the water. It’s great to see that the small Mit Dir Festival is still going strong. It was organised for the 7th time last weekend and now that we have been part of it, we understand why so many visitors come back here every year.
In this post you can find a Mit Dir Festival review with pictures, insider-tips and an extensive FAQ-Section.
About Mit Dir Festival
Mit Dir Festival was first organised in 2016 and originated from three open-air collectives. The festival is organised in Friedland which is about 110km southeast from Berlin. The festival is surrounded by trees and offers several electronic music stages but also loads of side-activities and entertainment (see the paragraph Versatile Program below).
5 reasons why you should visit Mit Dir Festival
In the last 15 years we have visited over 30 different German festivals. Only a few of them really stand out and Mit Dir will be added to that short list. The great location, lovely decorations, awesome livesets and special vibe will be not be forgotten anytime soon. Here is why we feel you should visit the Mit Dir Festival:
#1: Perfect size
Around 2500 people visited Mit Dir 2024. This amount is quite perfect in our opinion: It’s enough to fill larger dance-floors but you do not have the long lines during arrival or if you want to get a drink (like on Melt & Fusion). I personally also like to meet people several times on a festival.
#2: Awesome vibe
The majority of the visitors on the Mit Dir Festival are between 25 and 35 years old. We could really experience that this improved the vibe compared to festivals with many younger people. Most people dressed up, everybody was friendly (including the staff) and the vibe was just great altogether.
#3: Great livesets
The organisation focuses on exciting and upcoming talent and does a great job at selecting a nice mix of DJs. The names of the DJs are not communicated before the festival and this all contributes to just going with the flow and living in the moment. We loved it although we barely knew a name on the timetable.
#4: Beautiful location
The Mit Dir Festival is organised at a beautiful piece of earth in the middle of nature. The campsite is surrounded by trees and there is a lake very close to the dance floors. On a hot summer-day you can combine dancing and swimming and that’s not something many German Festivals have to offer.
#5: Versatile program
Mit Dir Festival offers so much more than just electronic music. You can enjoy live performances, join karaoke and listen to 80s and 90s music at the kiosk. Besides that there are workshops, art-exhibitions and games like table-tennis. There is something to do for everyone! Festivals like Nation of Gondwana are great but do not offer this kind of entertainment on the side.

What could be improved
Organising a festival is not easy. It’s not possible to foresee everything and festivals also have to make money so certain decisions have to be made. There were only a few small things which could’ve been better and as this is a review we still wanted to list them:
- The amount of visitors went up this year. It was mostly visible on the camping itself: On Friday people ignored the barriers and put their tents and campers basically everywhere.
- More water-stations are always a good thing in July. There were lines of people to get water which is something which could be improved next year.
Tips for a successful Mit Dir Festival
It should not come as a surprise that I suggest you consider visiting the next Mit Dir Festival. If you planning to visit the festival in the future, you should keep the following tips in mind:
- Arrive on Thursday before 15:00: We arrived at 11:00 already and had enough choice on the camping but most people leave around work so it gets a lot busier at night.
- Try to get a Camper-Ticket: This allows you to park next to your tent and save the trouble of carrying everything from the parking area (700 meter to the camping)
- Stay till the end: Make sure you take the Monday off and enjoy the closing ceremony. You are going to love it.
- Take some time to discover all little gems: We found out some areas and games on day three and wished we would’ve found them earlier. Just take your time on day one.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you still have some questions after reading this review of Mit Dir, the following FAQ-Section might help you prepare for your visit even better:
Yes you can bring your own drinks to the dance-floors too. It’s not allowed to bring glass bottles in so please stick to this, also for the sake of people dancing without shoes. Although you can bring as much drinks from home as you want, it’s also nice to support this small festival by buying some drinks there.
Most people arrive on the Mit Dir Festival on Thursday after work. If you visit with a larger group it’s smart to arrive on Thursday before 15:00. If you are with just 1-2 tents, it’s also fine to arrive Thursday after work or even on Friday-Morning.
The festival officially keeps going until Sunday 22:00. If you do not mind to stay sober you could leave after that but most people stay until Monday to really enjoy the Sunday too.
In 2024 the tickets started at 175€ for the early-birds and at the end the price went up to 200€.
Most people spend between 250 and 350€ on this festival. This is including the ticket, transportation and spending about 100€ on drinks and food.
The camping opens at 10:00 on Thursday. If you want a nice spot on the campsite it is smart to arrive early. Most people arrive after work on Thursday though so the sweet spot is between 12:00 and 14:00 on Thursday.
Yes, there is a small lake really close to the dance-floors which can be used for swimming. It’s a great spot to relax during the day and just have a good time with your friends.
The organisation of Mit Dir festival focuses on talented DJs and great personalities. They do not focus on headliners who play in clubs in Berlin like Watergate or Ritter Butzke but more on local talent and interesting personalities. You can find some of the names who played here in the last years here.
Summary and evaluation
Comparing to the other German festivals, we would definitely recommend visiting Mit Dir Festival. The festival is especially perfect for people who:
- Like smaller festivals
- Are above 25 years old
- Care more about a good vibe than about headliners
