When you are visiting Berlin with kids it can be challenging to choose the right activity. There are hundreds of activities to choose from: Some are quite expensive and touristic, others are hard to reach or only possible on a warm summer-day. In this post we have listed some of the best indoor-activities in Berlin with kids.
Indoor activities for children under 6 years
Usually young children are easy to please: They love the get out of the house and go on an adventure with their parents. Still, some activities are more suitable for small children than others. From my personal experience it’s good when the activity is interactive and versatile. Kids can lose their attention quickly and therefore it’s nice to be able to shift to a different area or section. Some of the indoor activities in Berlin below are educative as well, this is of course a bonus but we focused mainly on the ones children love to visit.
#1: Legoland Berlin
Because almost all children love to play with Lego, a visit to Legoland Berlin is always a great idea. This children activity is located at Potsdamer Platz and tickets can be bought online for 19,50€. Legoland Berlin offers a 4D cinema, a dragon-ride, a large interactive carousel and plenty of places to jump, run, slide and climb. If you ask our kids, this is one of the best indoor kids-activities in Berlin because it’s not about education but just about having fun.

#2: Natural History Museum
Where Legoland is mainly about fun, the National History Museum is a good example of an indoor kids-activity which is both educational and interactive. Children under 6 generally love animals and our kids were very impressed with all the fossils, statues and other information about nature. It’s awesome that tickets only cost 11€ each and small children are for free.
#3: Labyrinth Kids Museum
The Labyrinth Children Museum in Berlin carries the name museum but the focus is very much on interactivity here. Kids have to solve all kinds of riddles, craft things themselves and also be active and complete certain physical challenges. Tickets cost 7€ per person and this indoor activity is also great for smaller children under 4 years old. Keep in mind that the Labyrinth Museum is not open every day of the week.

#4: Technology Museum
Parents love it when an activity for kids is not only fun but also educative. The Museum of Technology is one of those activities. You can enjoy more than 20 different exhibitions and it’s great that many of them are interactive. By the way: This is a very affordable children-activity in Berlin because it only costs 12€ for a grown-up and is for free for children.
#5: The Aquarium Berlin
If it’s raining outside or you are looking for an indoor children activity for another reason, you can always visit the Aquarium of the Zoo in Berlin. Both children and parents love to see the 9000 different animals you can spot here on three different floors. Tickets start at 16€ and it’s easiest to travel to Zoologischer Garten and walk from there.

Frequently asked questions
The indoor activities for kids mentioned above should give you some inspiration for your next trip to Berlin. If you still have some open questions, we have listed a small FAQ below to help the trip go as smooth as possible.
It makes most sense to visit all indoor activities above directly after they open or all the way at the end of the day. Most people take it easy in the weekends, then slowly get moving around 10AM, which means the busiest hours are between 11AM and 2PM. If you are more flexible, you should avoid those hours. Obviously visiting outside the holidays also makes sense.
Yes all activities mentioned above offer food. In most cases it’s just some breads and small snacks but it will usually solve the issue of a hungry child. As you can usually go in and out of these indoor activities as often as you want (on the day the ticket was bough) you can also grab lunch around the corner if you find a nice place to grab a burger for example.
The prices differ from 7€ to 20€ and often the children can enter for free. It’s also often the case that you can buy a family-ticket or get a reduction in one way or another.
The easiest ways to save money is by preparing well. Make sure you bring your own food and drinks because in all places mentioned above it’s allowed. It can also be smart to buy tickets online and check if there are special discounts or reductions for families or small children.
